I bought a 2005 TT-R230 about a month ago and have been driving it on the weekends. I'm a novice driver and just riding it in the fields. Last weekend it was raining and the fields were really wet and my chain came off several times. I was simulating an oval track in the field and changing gears up and down. It had never done that before. The next day I tightened the chain one notch.

Can anyone give me advice about the chain. How to measure it? What to look for? General tips?

Thanks.

ok i got to admit that was difficut to read

like half way down your swing arm you ant 3 adults fingers to fit well under the chain and it is 2 finger about a quarter of the way down from the front sprocket

ok that's simple. assuming you know how to tighten the chain. The slack that should be in the chain just in front of the rear spocket should be 2-3 inches from when resting to when you lift the chain to tighten it. If any of that or any of what chad said look in the damn manuel that is if you know how to read. Damn how do you have a dirt bike and not know how tight the chain should be. If you can't figure it out you shouldn't have a bike! I mean it's one of the basics of bike maintanance!!!!!!

Actually I can say this because of the fact that I figured it out on my own. No one helped me, I did NOT read a manuel or how-tos. It's called trial and error. Honestly if you give me a dirt bike and tell me to pull the block and tear it down and put it back together with out any instructions I can do that in 2 days and it won't be worse then before and it will run.

and even if you had to read the manual there is a little thing called the table of contents that directs you to the section that you need to read for the particular part of the bike that you are working on
